SS 316L Stainless steel strip

SS 316L stainless steel has Mo added, so its corrosion resistance, atmospheric corrosion resistance and high temperature strength are particularly good, and it can be used under harsh conditions; it has excellent work hardening (non-magnetic). Excellent high temperature strength. 316L stainless steel is an austenitic stainless steel and cannot be strengthened by heat treatment. It has good strength, plasticity, toughness, cold formability and good low temperature performance. Since 2% Mo is added to Cr18Ni8, the steel is given good resistance to reducing media and pitting corrosion. It has suitable corrosion resistance in various organic acids, inorganic acids, alkalis, salts and seawater

The characteristics of SS 316l stainless steel strip are as follows:

Oxidation resistance: It is best not to use 316L stainless steel continuously in the range of 427°C-857°C, but when 316L stainless steel is used continuously outside this temperature range, the stainless steel has good heat resistance.

Corrosion resistance: 316L stainless steel has better corrosion resistance than 304 stainless steel and has good corrosion resistance in the production process of pulp and paper. And 316L stainless steel is also resistant to erosion by marine and aggressive industrial atmospheres.

Welding performance: 316L stainless steel strip can be welded by all standard welding methods. If 316LL stainless steel is used, no post-weld annealing is required.

Mechanical properties: In addition to good corrosion resistance, 316L stainless steel also has good mechanical properties, including high strength and good high-temperature ductility.

Heat treatment: Heat treatment can be carried out by conventional methods such as solid solution tempering, quenching and tempering, or full quenching to produce hardened parts with high wear resistance.

Application areas: Widely used in food processing equipment such as sinks, drains and tables that must withstand acidic solutions. In addition, they are often used in equipment exposed to seawater or other chemical environments that must withstand chloride corrosion.

Maximum carbon content: The maximum carbon content of 316L is 0.03%, which can be used in applications where annealing cannot be performed after welding and maximum corrosion resistance is required.

Heat and corrosion resistance: Due to the addition of 2%-3% Mo element, 316L has good heat and corrosion resistance, especially excellent pitting resistance.

Appearance: 316L stainless steel has good gloss, and can achieve very good results after surface treatment, and the appearance is very beautiful

Composition of Stainless Steel

Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. Stainless steels are steels containing at least 10.5% chromium, less than 1.2% carbon and other alloying elements. Stainless steel’s corrosion resistance and

mechanical properties can be further enhanced by adding other elements, such as nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium, manganese, etc.
