Chemical composition and duplex structure
\n2205 stainless steel contains 22% chromium, 3% molybdenum and 4.5%-6.5% nickel, and has both ferrite and austenite phases. The yield strength can reach 450-620 MPa, which is twice that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. This duplex structure gives it both high strength and good toughness, and can maintain structural stability when under pressure. \u200c<\/p>\n

Corrosion resistance
\nIts pitting resistance equivalent (PREN value 33-35) is better than 316L\/317L austenitic stainless steel in most corrosive media, especially suitable for chloride environments, and can effectively prevent stress corrosion cracking. The addition of nitrogen further enhances the ability to resist crevice corrosion, and performs outstandingly in marine and chemical scenes. \u200c<\/p>\n

Processing and welding characteristics
\n2205 stainless steel can be cold-formed or hot-formed (recommended temperature \u2264600\u00b0F), and attention should be paid to springback control during processing. Welding does not require preheating or post-treatment, and the joint strength is equivalent to that of the parent material, which is suitable for complex structure manufacturing<\/p>\n

The yield strength of 2205 duplex stainless steel is more than double that of ordinary austenitic stainless steel. This feature allows designers to reduce weight when designing products, making this alloy more cost-effective than 316 and 317L.
