SS409 stainless steel pipe is a general-purpose ferritic stainless steel. Its main features include:
Chemical composition: It is mainly composed of iron (Fe), chromium (Cr), nickel (Ni), manganese (Mn), silicon (Si), phosphorus (P) and sulfur (S), with a high chromium content, which gives it a certain corrosion resistance.
Corrosion resistance: Although the relatively low content of chromium and nickel makes it less corrosion-resistant than other types of stainless steel, it still has good heat resistance.
Machinability: In most cases, 409 stainless steel pipes need to be preheated before welding, and the preheating temperature is generally between 150 and 260 degrees Celsius. Excessive preheating may seriously damage the metal.
Application areas: Commonly used in non-visual parts in the automotive industry, such as brakes, rotors, pipes and engine components.

Composition of Stainless Steel
Steel is an alloy of iron and carbon. Stainless steels are steels containing at least 10.5% chromium, less than 1.2% carbon and other alloying elements. Stainless steel’s corrosion resistance and
mechanical properties can be further enhanced by adding other elements, such as nickel, molybdenum, titanium, niobium, manganese, etc.
