SS409 stainless steel bar is a general purpose ferritic stainless steel with the following features:

Corrosion resistance limitations: Although SS409 has some corrosion resistance, it is not as corrosion resistant as other types of stainless steel, such as austenitic stainless steel, due to its lower chromium and nickel content.
Machinability: In most cases, SS409 needs to be preheated before welding to improve its weldability. The preheating temperature is usually between 150 and 260 degrees Celsius.
Applications: SS409 is commonly used in the automotive industry for non-appearance parts such as brakes, rotors, pipes and engine components. It is also used in other applications that require low cost and moderate corrosion resistance.
