Corrosion resistance
2507 stainless steel contains high chromium (24%-26%), molybdenum (4%) and nitrogen (0.25%-0.32%), and performs well in strong corrosive media such as chlorides, sulfates, and organic acids, especially in dilute sulfuric acid and dilute hydrochloric acid environments containing chlorides. Compared with similar stainless steels, it has stronger resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking. ‌
Mechanical properties
The dual-phase structure (austenite + ferrite) makes it have both high strength (yield strength ≥450MPa) and good toughness, and the tensile strength can reach more than 690MPa, and the wear resistance is better than ordinary stainless steel. It has a low thermal expansion coefficient and good dimensional stability, which is suitable for high temperature and high pressure conditions. ‌
Processing performance
It can be processed cold and hot, and welding requires special processes (such as preheating and post-heat treatment), but it has good formability and is suitable for manufacturing complex parts. It is not easy to rust after surface treatment, and the hygienic properties meet the cleaning requirements of the pharmaceutical industry and other industries. ‌
Typical Applications
Mainly used in petrochemical pipelines, offshore platform structures, high-pressure vessels and heat exchangers, etc., and also used in pharmaceutical equipment, seawater desalination equipment and flue gas desulfurization systems in the power industry.
