Corrosion resistance
SUS316L contains molybdenum (2-3%) and nickel (12-15%), which significantly improves the ability to resist pitting, intergranular corrosion and crevice corrosion, and is especially suitable for seawater, chloride environments and chemical equipment. Compared with conventional SUS304 stainless steel, it has better corrosion resistance.
Mechanical properties
Tensile strength range 480-620MPa, elongation ≥40%, hardness ≤187HB. After solution treatment, the structure is stable, with both high temperature strength and toughness, and a wide range of applicable temperatures.
Processing characteristics
Good work hardening, high surface finish after cold rolling; excellent welding performance, suitable for multi-layer welding and no tendency to knife edge corrosion. However, the machinability is poorer than SUS304, and suitable tools need to be selected.
Applicable scenarios
Widely used in industrial fields such as petrochemical, nuclear power, shipbuilding, printing and dyeing, and welding parts with a thickness of more than 12.5mm are particularly recommended.
